7 Quick Takes Friday

1. Sorry for not posting week 15 photos. I've been really busy and I haven't even thought about it when I see my camera and laptop. You'll be in for a treat this weekend with both week 15 and 16 at the same time.

2. Meet with my Spiritual Director this week. I love my SD! She has really helped my spiritual life since the fall. If you don't have one... find one! My search for a SD started with prayer and then asking. I asked our Associate Pastor of a person who he would recommend. He recommended a woman from his last parish. It has worked out wonderfully. Sometimes the first person doesn't fit right away. But I totally recommend spiritual direction at any point in your spiritual journey.

3. My SD gave me the follow quote to prayer with this week. I think that it would be beneficial to everyone. "You don't have to change for me to love you. Loving me will change you." from God.

4. 4th of July is about 2 weeks away!!! As a kid it was not one of my favorite holidays. It was just a day off where we got to see fireworks. But as an adult, I love the holiday. The annual Block Party is on! So if you know where we live and would like to join in the fun we will be having our annual pot-luck, firework extravaganza on the 4th of July. Mr. B will put together a flyer and send it out the weekend. Call or email me with details if you don't get an email by Monday.

5. It's HOT HOT HOT in the Mid-West. And as any pregnant woman, I love my A/C. I'm glad I'm not like my friends K and K. They are due in the next few weeks. I bet they can't get cold enough this time of year.

6. No baby movement yet.

7. Sorry no funnies this week. If you have a great Internet funny from this week please pass it on. I love a good laugh.

Check out more 7 Quick Takes here. Have a great weekend.

Weekend Review

It was a fun weekend. My parents visited this weekend for the College World Series. The last time they were in town was for the Husker v. Mizzou football game in October. So we had to plan another event for their visit. The CWS was perfect for it.

I ended up buying tickets from a coach I work with. His family has own 4 season tickets for 20 years. They sell the tickets to the games they can't attend at the ticket price. I'm glad I waited and didn't buy marked up tickets on Craig's List. We went to Game 1: Cal St Fullerton v. Arkansas. The Hogs sure did show up to play on Saturday afternoon. Cal St on the other hand did not. The fans were awesome! There were a lot of fan that made the trip to see them. I only saw one Hog hat. You know like corn cob ones crazy Husker fans wear. There was a cute little girl who had a pink Hog dress one. It was a kids cheer outfit.

My parents also found Mr. B a set of hand-me down clubs from my late uncle. (Thanks BB for the clubs.) We played a short 9-holes on Sunday afternoon before my parents left. Mr. B wants to play again.

The rest of the weekend was filled with food. We ate out the entire time from Friday night dinner to Sunday brunch. I'll have to weight myself this afternoon when I work out. We were able to take my parents to a few favorite places that they've never been before including Dundee Dell and Granite City for brunch.

7 Quick Takes Friday

1. Weekend plans: My parents are visiting this weekend for the College World Series. This will be their first time to a CWS game. I've been in Omaha for 3 years now and they haven't been able to visit during this exciting time. I'm sorry I just had to visit my sister in Prague (2007) and get married last year (2008). But now we're available for you to visit. We plan on going to Game 1: Cal St Fullerton v. Arkansas. We don't have tickets yet. We'll figure that out when we get down to the stadium.

2. This morning on my way to work they reported on the hotel reservations in the area for the CWS. They are down 1-3% or flat from last year. I believe this is in direct correlation to the economy. People are not going on summer vacations or following their team to the "best show on dirt." This doesn't look good for the new stadium set to open with more seats summer 2011.

3. Last Saturday night was the Knights of Columbus banquet. Mr. B and I were really glad we attended the event. We started with a Rosary, Mass, a nice social gathering of other Knights and their wives. Plus some awesome food. Being a new Knight, we learned a lot about the organized and how we can get involved in the program more. That was very helpful on where to jump in. However, Mr. B didn't go to the monthly meeting last night. He had just returned from a conference that afternoon. He stayed home to spend time with me and help with the house. (My parents are visiting, see #1).
4. I will report that I didn't go to Adoration on Tuesday evening. This is the first time that I missed. Please let me explain why. I get home Tuesday evening from work and I smell something in the basement. Well I make my way upstairs to change, eat dinner and while a little RR I forget about it. Then I make my way back downstairs to get something before I left and I smell it again. Well I end up finding that the rugs in the utility room were soaked plus some other random stuff in the room. But there was no standing water. I called Mr. B who was in at the conference and told him then ask him what to do. He suggested I see if our neighbor plumber was home to check it out. Well he was able to come over and see our basement. His conclusion was that something got clogged and then was able to break it self free. The good thing was that our nice area of the basement wasn't touched by the water. I proceed to clean up the mess and stay drying stuff out. I didn't get finished until after my Adoration time. With the 10 minute drive to church, I decided to stay home for the evening. I did say a Rosary during this time to claim me down. I think it helped. No more flooding has been in our basement.
5. Work is picking up! I like it.
6. Please pray for "GP". He is the father-in-law of my dad's best friend from college. He past away this week. He had been sick for the last year or so. He was 90 years old. He was just the happiest old man and we'll really miss GP in our lives. Also please pray for his daughter and rest of his family. They have all becoming close family friends of ours the past few years.
7. And my favorite online clip of the week. Yes, it's another Jimmy Fallon one. You've got to check it out. If you grew up in the early 90's you'll totally love it!
Bonus: Since there are several new readers to my blog this week I thought I should explain "7 Quick Tales by Conversion Diary". Jennifer the author of this blog. It's her journey of her conversion from atheist to Catholic. Check her 7 Quick Tales plus many others at Conversion Diary.

How do I receive updates?

Today while updating my blog I found a blogger feature. I can send automatic blog updates to email. So if you would like to receive an automatice email update, please email me or leave a comment below. Right now it's only limited to 10 people. So the first 10 people get to receive emails from me automatically. If I get more than 10 responses, then I'll figure out another method.

Another way to receive notification that there is a new blog posting about Baby B, you can add this blog to your Google Reader. It's one of those fancy Google features this world couldn't live without. I have several blogs set up on my Google Reader to easy read. Just go to Google's homepage and find the link for "Reader". that will explain more about the feature.

More updates coming soon. Thanks for reading and praying for Baby B.

14 week Appoinment

Yesterday, I went to my OB's office for my monthly check-up. She said everything looks good. I only gained one pound in a month (nice). I haven't even gained 10 pounds since being pregnant. I'm happy about that. Not happy about wearing maternity clothes full time.

The best part of the visit was I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was in the 150's. She said it was good. I have no idea what the heartbeat really means. Some people said that faster rates mean "girl" and slower rates mean "boy". I don't care and I'm not going to research that.

She said to schedule my 16 week ultrasound for 2 weeks. It's scheduled for Thursday, June 25.

Taken care of body

Today was my second attempt at prenatal yoga at One Tree Yoga. There is a class just for mommies-to-be on Sunday mornings.
I'm really glad that I started prenatal yoga this early in this pregnancy. It's fun to listen to the women who are 30+ weeks pregnant. Plus it's helping me with this ever growing belly I have. I just feel better after finishing yoga.
Last week there were 14 women in the room - it was a really full class. This morning there were 8 and we got to use the birthing balls. I really liked those balls. I need to get one for home to sit on while trying to relax.
I'm going to continue to workout at Curves until the end of June. Then work gets really busy and then I'm in my third trimester. And I have no idea how much energy I'd have for that.
If you're pregnant try prenatal yoga. It's a great experience.
Now it's time for a nap and some college baseball.

Baby Update Week 14

Photos taken by Mr. B before leaving for church and the Knight of Columbus banquet last night. There is a baby bump. But it's a little hard to see from this photos.

7 Quick Takes Friday - I'm back

1. Yes, I know it's about time. You need an update. Well, I explained in an earlier post this week of my absence. The rest of my 7 Quick Takes Friday won't make sense if you don't read it. I'll give you a few minutes to get caught up.

2. Mr. B's summer - he teaches high school. Therefore, I hear it all the time that he is SO LUCKY to have his summers "off". Ya, right! He doesn't have his summers "off". He has been out of school for one week. In this time, he has installed a sliding glass door and a garage door. These are jobs that are best done in the summer because he does have more time and doesn't have to fit it in his busy school schedule. He created himself a list and it's on the refrigerator. The only rule for the list is that I can't add to the list unless speaking with him before hand. I agreed to this rule because the list was pretty long. I'll post a report of the list status when something else happens major.

3. My number one summer question is.... "Do you work in the summer?" Ummm... YES I do. I work in student services for a college. We're not teaches. We're here all the time. In my position summer is one of the busiest times of the year. So yes, I'm at work. Please believe me.

4. I love being in the second trimester. My energy level has increased! It's awesome. I think my cravings have kicked in. I had to go to Hy-Vee after work before working out because I needed a roll. I couldn't think of anything but the roll. It was bad.

5. Mr. B joined the Knights of Columbus this spring through our church. Because school is really busy in the spring he has only attended one meeting. We are planning to attend the annual banquet tomorrow night. I'm excited to meet more families in our parish.

6. I'm sad to report that I don't have the new DMB Album yet. That is totally unlike me. I will pick it up after pay day Tuesday, I promise. But I did record everything about DMB on my DVR last night. :) yes that will have to over ride Mr. B's DIY Network records for today. Sorry.

7. Best online laugh of the week for all you Dave fans.... Watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Hulu.

To know or not to know... that is the question

This post is from LC's comment on the question post from last night.

Mr. B and I have decided to keep the sex of our baby a secret. A surprise have you. This is a hot topic when you're pregnant. Everyone wants to know and can't stand waiting. I understand that it's a personal choice for each couple and each pregnancy. We did have discussions about whether or not to find out. Mr. B preferred to find out a head of the time. Me, on the other hand... I wanted to wait until the baby is born. Yes, I really did. I know that might be hard to believe for some of you.

Here are my reasons:

1. I have no control over it. Yes, there are tails on how to get a boy versus a girl. But God is the one in control.

2. We're going to have more kids. Gender neutral is the way to go for the first 6 months. Babies don't care if they are wearing pink or blue.

3. I love a good surprise and keeping secrets.

4. We don't have a good enough reasons to find out what the sex is. Decorating the room doesn't count.

So those are my reasons. BTW- we're not going to tell you the names we pick out either. That will be a surprise.

Questions

So when you're having a baby everyone wants to know everything about how you're feeling and what you're craving. So I decided to write a post about it.

1. Any morning sickness? Nope, I can keep everything down :)
2. Weirdest thing you eat? I don't eat ice cream anymore. I blame my husband not like sweets as kid.
3. What do you crave? ICEE, Slurpee's, Popsicles, anything cold, and Cheetos!
4. Are you going to wait or find out the sex of the baby? NO!

Let me know if you've got other questions about baby, me or Mr. B. I'm happy to answer.

Have a blessed day!

Mr. B + Mrs. B = Baby B

Sorry for the long over due post. I don't know if you're still reading this blog or not. Most likely not. But anyway, if you are the reason for my long over due post is that we're having a baby. I didn't want to post anything online until the right time.
I'm currently 13 weeks into my pregnancy and everything is going well. We found out Friday, April 3. The baby's expected due date is December 5th, 2009. It's a Saturday, so i know it won't happen on that day. that's too easy for Mr. B is work all week and then have the baby over the weekend.
So now the newly wed blog has turned into a getting ready for baby blog. God has really blessed us! We are really excited. Stay tuned for more baby and Mrs. B updates for the next 6 months.
