Money Money

One of the most time consuming things concerning wedding planning is figuring out how to pay for it. I'm doing my best at being a budget conscience bride. In fact, since we've became engaged this has been my TOP priority when planning. After getting the church, I purchased the book Bridal Bargins. It might have been the best "investment" towards the wedding to date.

However, even with this "investment" I feel that this wedding is going to make us all broke. I'm very happy that my parents taught me the value of a dollar and that money doesn't grow on trees. However, I believe the wedding industry learned that money does grown on tree in their childhood.

With saving money, I've become a staker of eBay and Craig's List for things that shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. My latest searches have been for a flower girl dress, center piece ideas, and cake knife. However, I don't want to purchase these items over 5 months in advanced for them to sit and collect dust in the house. Plus our flower girl could not fit into the dress in July if I got it now. She is a growning 6 year old.

My lastest purchase for the wedding has been my awesome shoes! I found them at zappos.com. I highly recommend Zappos customer service and shipping!!!

But most of all, I'm just ready to be married!

Super Fun Wednesday!!!

My a$$. Today I went to boot camp! We normally don't have it on Wednesdays but the trained slept in on Monday. So today was a make-up day. There is a train stop on my street. I never hit the train on my way to the high school. But today (Wed) I did and it was a long one. So I was late. Then the trainer said we were going to have a "Super Fun" day with Super wall sits and super Abs. Ya, right. I'm going to feeling this pain throughout the day. I know it's all good for me.

It's a Super Wednesday!

It's Jan 30, and I've worked out 15 days this month. That's awesome compared to nothing in November or December.

Doing my best...

At work we have started a competion, Lighten Up Iowa. It's a 100 challenge to "change the shape of the state." The first week is over and I'm doing well. I've lost a few pounds. I'm closer to my goal! College is helping out with the new carido room on campus. It's a great place to workout. This week we were off for Boot Camp. But I've got another 2 weeks of Camp. The Boot Camp has been challenging and a success. After the first week of physical hell, I've really enjoyed the early morning workouts. Who knew I would say that??

6 months to go...

Well, it's official I have six months until I'm hitched and cruising away on my honeymoon. I have truly mixed feeling. One moment, I'm totally excited about the day at hand and the lifetime I'm going to spend with Andy. Then the next, I'm in totally shock that I don't have enough done and we can't be half way through our engagement already. Yes, I know I worry too much. Well, I am and I need to face reality. The remember that it's only day and we need to focus on the lifetime together.

Non-wedding thoughts for today: It was reported today on every major news site that Heath Ledger died at 28!!! OMG! I've love Heath (as an actor) from the first time I watched him in 10 Things I Hate About You. Hollywood kills so many so young. Please be sure to keep Heath's family and especially his young daughter in your prayers.

A weekend to prepare for a life time...

This weekend, Andy and I went on Catholic Engaged Encounter. It was awesome!!!! The CEE weekend is required as apart of our marriage prep through the Archdiocese of Omaha. This was an awesome experience for both of us. We spent quality time together as a couple without wedding planning and outside influences. We have grown together as a couple since starting dating in summer 2006. However, this weekend has prepared us to start our life of unity in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. If you are considering attending this retreat, do it!

Pizza, again

There are just some foods in life that you eat a lot. Well for me it's pizza. For some reason when I have it once, I'll have it a second and maybe in a third time in a row. For example, I had pizza for lunch on Monday AND Tuesday! To make this better, I'm having it again today! Why? I guess this stems from poor planning of my lunches and working on a college campus.

Well, anyway... back to my original thought about pizza. When counting calories and watching your weight, does it help to "bloch" the extra grease off the top of the pizza?? Umm... probably not that much. I guess I want to remind my self every time I eat pizza how bad it is for you.

Up at 5am...

In preparation for the wedding, I've taken a drastic change in my habits. Yesterday (1/7/08) I started Omaha Adventure Boot Camp.

My original intentions to participate in this physical activity was to kick start my workout to fit in my wedding dress better. Just about every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, right? This is more than just a New Year's Resolution. Well, here I go and this is going to be my best attempt at it. I've lost the weight before - two times. Once without trying while I was studying in London, spring 2002. Then I joined Weight Watchers in January 2006. Well I need to change up my program. And here I go.

Day 1: I was very nervous about the new program so I did not sleep very well. My alarm was set for 5 AM!!! That's one hour earlier than normal. I arrived on time to a local high school gym. This intense training brought back memories of basketball and volleyball practice in high school at Lindbergh. The interesting part of the morning happened after I left the boot camp. When I was getting ready for work I ate an orange and took my daily medicine. Not a good combination. I got sick within a mile of my apartment. So I had to return home to clean up my car and changes clothes. Note to self - don't eat or drink acid foods after a big workout.
Day 1 was getting hard as my body was feeling the pain setting in. However, I remembered to drink plenty of water and eat well rounded meals.

Day 2: Holy Cow!! What did I sign myself up for?? This must have been the hardest morning ever to get out of bed physically. I'm not kidding! It felt like my body was sucked into the bed. Gravity is not my friend.
Because my body aches from the previous day's workout, this workout was challenging just to do everything. I do have to say that I am challenged and that I feel like I am working out. Good.
Today I'm walking much slower than normal and it's difficult to sit and get up plus take stairs.
Tomorrow is my off day. Hopefully, my body will be able to recover. Then Thursday I'm back to the grind.
