Summer Photos

Having a winter baby doesn't give you much opportunity to take photos around the child's birthday in good weather. What are parents to do? Take pictures when the weather is nice. Or I should say not snowing outside. This weekend was HOT. Well, it was July 4th Holiday weekend.

Here are some photos for you to enjoy of our little dude. They were taken by our friend, Dina. That smile is so much his daddy. I love it!

Me like chocolate

I guess since this is Augustine's blog and all, I should give you faithful readers an update on the little man. He had his 18th month check up this morning. Everything is going get. He is still long and lean with a big head. That isn't going to change. But at least his head size isn't off the charts. He is developing great and speaking several words. You can really understand what he is trying to say. Grandma and Grandpa found him a little wood table. He loves to color on it. Then loses his privileges of the chairs because he stands on them. He loves to climb on everything. He is no longer a baby. Our little man is so cute and happy. I love him so much.

The story of us...

Betty is asking for engagement stories this week. So here is the story of Mr. & Mrs. B. Photo is from my graduation celebration August 2006.

We meet in June 2006, 2 weeks after I moved to Om.aha for a job after finishing my masters program. It was an Archdiocese Young Adult Event. God always told me that I would meet my husband at church. Well, God knows I need obvious signs. Mr. B was lecturing in swim trunks because the group was planning on going swimming afterwards. Swimming never happened. We dated for almost a year. And were pretty set on getting married early on. My parents were surprised that our engagement didn't happen earlier than it did. However, I knew Andy wanted to "season" his bride to be.

So the weekend he was out of school, we headed to STL to see my family and pick up some furniture from my grandparents' home. We always tried to do something fun while in STL that is tourist-y for Andy, because he didn't grow up there like I did. This trip we planned on going up the Gateway Arch. I was thinking he was finally going to pop the question. But I didn't think he had an opportunity to buy a ring or ask my dad. Well, I was wrong. We were up there for a while looking out the windows. Then he brings me to the middle and starts telling me all this wonderful stuff. I can't remember what he told me. Then gets down on one knee and these women start freaking out and getting everyone attention. I'm sure I said yes, because I left the Arch with a great big smile and a ring. It was June 2, 2007. Also my grandparents' wedding anniversary.
All the weird stuff that lead up to our engagement... Andy had asked my dad earlier that afternoon when mom and I went to see my grandparents. He purchased the ring over Spring Break. We did go to the jewelry store in the winter. I selected two options that I would be happy with for the rest of my life. So he knew what I liked and wasn't scared that he would select something wrong. He made a big deal of what pants to pack for that evening. He stored the ring in his black pants.

We were married July 19, 2008 at the Old Cathedral. This was the church my parents' were married at 29 years before.

Prayer Buddy - Lent

This Lent I had the honor to pray for Jacqui aka Roses of St. Rita's Roses. I've lifted up her intentions in daily rosaries and candles at church. She is a wonderful woman that has a heart for the Lord. Her intentions include selling a condo, buying home, struggling with infertility to start a family, and discerning to start the Practitioner Intern program with Fertility.Care Cre.ighton Model. Oh, I know why God matched us up. At this time, she has decided to not pursue the internship because there is a lot going on in her life. However, I know she will make the right decision when it comes.

Also, thanks for the prayers from Joan. I really felt your prayers this Lenten season. We are in a much better place at Easter.

Play Ball!

Opening Day to HERE! Augustine is all ready for the Cards Opening Day at Busch Stadium. It's got his baseball outfit on and ball cap ready to go. This boy likes to wear his hat backwards. I don't know where he learn that. Oma & Papa are headed to the game this afternoon with friends. While the rest of us have to be in school.

GO CARDS!

Update

Augustine had his surgery on Monday morning. He was so awesome! The ENT said following the surgery that his adenoids were inflamed and had puss on them. I was so relieved that they were removed with that report. Monday and most of the day Tuesday were good for Augustine. Then Tuesday afternoon he started to get warm. Tuesday overnight through Thursday were terrible. He ran a low grade temp until Thursday night at 9pm. My moment close was when we went in to give him a nightly blessing of Holy Water and he was a little warm. Then not 2 minutes later he woke up. He had broke his fever. I tried to rock him to sleep. But he was ready to play. We decided that he was well enough to go right to bed like normal. And that's what we did. He went right to sleep. :) Then woke up at 1am and for the day at 6:30am. I'm happy to report that my little guy is doing much better today.

Theresa is not doing as well. She has been put on hospice this week. Her sister, brother, and mother were able to come up this week. Please pray for their entire family and comfort for T.

Remember Me?

I know that's funny. I thought 2011 I would blog more. Well I was wrong. Sorry about that. It's Lent and Spring is HERE! Thank you for the wonderful weather outside. We have enjoyed it.

Tonight I have two very important prayers for my Lent Prayer Buddy. 1 - Augustine is having his adenoids removed tomorrow at 7:40am. It's his first big surgery. It is because of all the sinus inflections he has had since August. The ENT believes that the adenoids have bacteria on them that we can't kill with antibiotics and they need to come out. Risk are low and there is a 50-60% chance this will help. We need our little happy baby boy.

2. Our friend Theresa. She has cancer and has been going through treatment since July. Right after Christmas she had a stroke. Last night she had another one and was sent back to the hospital. We didn't get good news about her progress. Please pray for T's family to travel safely to Omaha and for her mom to take the news as best as possible. Most of her family is in the South. Her mom has been sick too and hasn't been able to come to visit her.

Thank you, Lent Prayer Buddy for your prayers. We have been feeling the grace of God through the difficult times and the know that things will be taken care of the way they are to be. We will continue to pray for your intentions as well.
